The whole Birch family had something that belonged in the "Spoiler" section. First of all, Andrew had a son from a prior relationship. And he found out just before Christmas. Andres, a gay man from Los Angeles, flew to England to find his birth father for Christmas. Emma discovered that a lump she had found turned out to be cancer, but she was going to hold off telling the family until after Christmas. Olivia had been having an intimate relationship with the colleague who caught the "plague" and was in quarantine in Ireland. And Phoebe's fiance broke off their engagement because things were moving too fast. He ended up having a drunken "moment" with Jesse before he realized that he was Phoebe's "new" brother.
In the end, Jesse was welcomed to the family. Olivia found out that she was pregnant and did get to tell Sean before an infection killed him.
