This was a messy ending to a book. A lot of things to keep straight.
Zach did not kill Amanda, but he was the hacker at the school.
According to the narcissistic, Kerry Tanner, they were having a "thing" on the side, but really Amanda was just being nice. And she was a little unstable. She thought her dead father was stalking her with texts and following her. When really it was Kerry. Kerry said that Amanda fell down the stairs, hitting her head repeatedly on the railing. He planted the earing and blood on Sam, who he played basketball with once a week.
Maude was hiding in the closet waiting for Zach, she figured out that he was the hacker and the one requesting all of the naughty pictures from her daughter.
Oh, and Amanda's father molested her for years. Amanda killed him after she found him molesting her best friend, who died after she fell and hit her head on the bathtub when he attacked her.
Zach Grayson was blackmailing Lizzie to be his lawyer because he had hacked into her accounts to discover she lied to her employer and she had lied to her husband about her own father.
Sam ended up going to rehab.
