Wowzers! I did not see this one coming.
Beth's "Tom Evans" was really Thomas's brother. The one who had been in jail for fraud and had been disowned by Thomas's family.
As Tom, Nathan defrauded Beth and her mother for a lot of money.
Beth was the one framing Nathan for an affair. She wanted Alice to know the heartbreak she felt when her Tom left her the way he did.
As Alice's husband, Nathan, was trying to defraud Alice's business for nearly a million by doing a deal for worthless land in Japan.
Alice caught on just in time and stopped the deal. She and Beth confronted him, there was an altercation. Beth and Nathan went over the edge, but Alice saved Beth. And let Nathan die.
Thank you for the spoilers! I stopped reading the book halfway because i did not feel connected to it at all, but i wanted to know the twits too. This was the only place i could get the whole story, even though i checked many sites and reviews.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the plot now, i think that the book could have been so much better. The author's writing style ruined it all.
I had no idea who she saved.....thank you for letting me know, it was going to drive me crazy....I agree that the author's style was often confusing and there were plot holes riddled throughout....could've been way more clear. Decent read, though. 6 out of 10
