SPOILERS for Dear Debbie by Frieda McFadden

Debbie quit MIT because she was raped in her second year. The man who raped her was her husband's coworker, Jesse. Debbie set him up for all of it. Killing their boss, killing Harley, all of it. She even convinced Jesse to tell Harley that his name was Cooper.  Jesse ended up going to prison, where he got even more justice. 

Cooper's big secret was that he was an alcoholic. He was leaving the house at night for AA meetings.
