Margo is batshit crazy. She was so determined to get her "dream house" that she fabricated a way to meet the owners. When they chased her off, she tried blackmailing one of the owners into choosing their bid. And that failed.
In the meantime, Margo discovered that Ian was cheating on her. She concocted a revenge plot that would guarantee all the other bidders would back out, guaranteeing the house would be hers.
She killed Ian's mistress and framed her neighbor, Natalie, for the murder. Because Natalie is a bad dog mom. She dumped the body in the "Dream House" so all of the other bidders would drop out. Then she killed Natalie, making it look like an overdose, and took possession of both the house and the dog.
The book ends with Margo discovering another burner phone in Ian's bag, indicating he was cheating on her again.
