Connie was not Gwen's daughter, she was a scam artist, just like Paul. Only Paul was also a murderer who married his victims, got them to change their wills, and then killed them.
Once Paul was convicted and in prison, Connie thought she was going to inherit Gwen's estate. But Paul called Gwen's cousin, Meredith, and transferred everything to her. Meredith took the money and went on a world cruise. The book ended with Meredith saying she had a date with a man, who happened to be Paul's accomplice.
Connie spiraled and ended up back in jail.
