James and Dylan had been together for months. Right after they first got together Dylan had broken up with Nick. Nick could not let her go and turned into a stalker. He followed James and Dylan to Hawaii where he cut their brake line, causing the accident on the road famous for accidents. When Jacks started to piece it together Nick threatened her. THEY were in a car accident where Nick wasn't wearing his seatbelt and died in the accident.
