Marcie was a sociopath who killed her first husband. When Elizabeth presented Marcie with the option of saving either Jason or Keisha from going to jail. She chose Keisha because she knew that Keisha was going to end up with William's money.
Keisha ended up pregnant with William's baby. Marcie wasn't thrilled, but figured that she could eventually kill of Keisha when she got bored with her.
Elizabeth set it all up as revenge for the way that get back at William for the way he treated Eleanor.
Thank you for the spoiler - I've been slowly (painfully) making my way through Dead to Her and was wondering if it was worth continuing. I'm about 2/3 of the way through and not much has happened outside of Marcie and Keisha hooking up and lots of angst. I really needed to know if it was building to anything.
