Lots of secrets to reveal with this one!
First of all, Celeste was stuttering because she did not want to marry Benji. She was really in love with the best man, Shooter. She didn't feel that she could back out of it because of her mother's illness. She was getting ready to run away with Shooter when she discovered Merritt's body.
Then Merritt was pregnant with Benj's father's baby. Tag had tried breaking it off, but Merritt told him she was pregnant during the wedding weekend.
The thought was that Merrit died because of her affair with Tag, but really it was an accident. She was given a glass of water that was laced with a strong sedative. The glass was meant for another wedding guest, the one who was having an affair with Benji's married brother. It was purely accidental that Merritt drowned in the ocean because the sedative essentially prevented her from pulling herself out of the water.
So my question ... where was the water glass ... that was still missing ... or was that inconsequential
