Paul Stewart, the track coach, had molested Danny when he was younger. Poppy filmed him kissing Danny with her Super 8 camera. Danny threw Poppy's camera away, but Lydia found it. Years later, Olivia had the film converted to digital and started piecing things together, but she was only half right.
Mr. Stewart killed Poppy. When Vince walked in, he thought Danny had killed her. They fought, and Danny knocked him out. Lydia thought Danny killed Vince, and she killed Danny. Olivia kept that secret. Writing the book as if Mr. Stewart killed them both.
