While twenty-seven weeks pregnant Kate has an aneurysm and falls into a coma. David is only thinking about his wife, but Hannah is thinking about the baby and against her husband's wishes, looks to take legal steps to protect her baby. While in a coma, Kate has a heart attack and another stroke. In the end, they have to take the baby because she is brain-dead. The baby lives and Kate dies. It is absolutely heartbreaking.
