Veronica was really Teddy's mother. Naomi stole him out of Clay's car when she saw Clay passed out. She passed him off as Jeremy's by faking a pregnancy test.
Naomi had struck Ronnie on the head with a rock when Jeremy was out of town. She drug Ronnie to the basement and was going to torture her. Ezra, the lawyer, was driving by and saw her car at Jeremy's house. Naomi pushed Ezra down the stairs. Ezra hit her with a wine bottle as she started a fire in the basement. Both Ezra and Naomi were killed in the fire.
The book ends with Jeremy admitting that he knew that Teddy wasn't his. And Jeremy is the one who killed Clay. He ended the book saying that he would kill anybody who tried taking Teddy from him.
