SPOILERS for It Could Have Been Her by Lisa Jewell

I have seen several reviews saying it took several chapters to keep all the characters straight, not to mention the timelines. And I agree. 

Claire Connelly killed Alan Black. Jessamine killed Clarie because she killed her father. Claire was Daisy's mother and the final Au Pair Girl. 

All of the Au Pair girls were buried in various states in the hidden basement under the house. Including Claire and Alan Black. 

Jasper killed himself after almost strangling Daisy to death. Daisy ran home, and that is when Jane came across Hugo. During their encounter, Jasper kept telling Daisy to ask Annie what had happened. When Annie didn't tell her anything, Daisy shoved her down the stairs, breaking her neck. 

Jessamine sobered up enough to tell the police she killed Annie and that it was Annie who killed Claire and Alan. 

Jane was almost an au pair twenty years ago, but her intuition got her out of the house before she could be drugged.
