Grace and Alfred were involved in a cheating scandal during their senior year of college. Alfred was caught and expelled, but Grace got away with it. However, Alfred informed her that Dr. Jerome Scott knew about her involvement and was planning to report her. They arranged a meeting with Dr. Scott to take place on the roof of the building Alfred goaded Grace into pushing him off the roof.
Danny, Alfred's housekeeper at the hotel, was Dr. Scott's widow. She was playing the long game and put things in motion. Ultimately, killing Alfred and framing Grace.
