There are sooo many things to spoil with this one!
The house that Finn and Mia bought was the house where Debbie grew up. Her mother was crazy and used her and her brother, George, to bring home young children that they abused and killed.
Debbie and Dave met when Dave accidentally hit the girl that Debbie was trying to help escape from her house of horrors. They ended up together and Dave covered for thirty years of Debbie's "activities."
She kidnapped Finn after killing his sister and they raised him as their own.
What wasn't revealed until the end was that Debbie also used Finn in the same way she was used as a child. She used him to lure children and he was involved in her activities until he asked her to stop when he was a teenager.
Debbie kidnapped Sonny and gave him to her long lost brother, George. She bribed Finn to visit her every week in the mental hospital in order to get a picture. Finn figured it out and rescued his son and tried to get back together.
The book ends with Finn visiting a storage locker with Sonny. And he admits to having killed two people. And he will groom Sonny just as he was groomed to kill.
