When Kelly and Jen met, Kelly was an undercover police officer trying to infiltrate a stolen car ring. It was Jen's father who had been supplying them with the addresses of the empty homes. Jen went all the way back to the day before the baby was stolen and reported the address to the police so they could catch it before happened. 

The baby turned out to be "future" Cleo. Jen woke up back in the present after preventing the stolen baby. Kelly was really "Ryan" and still working as a police officer.
