The book that "Maud Dixon" wrote was really a true story. Helen killed the man and framed her friend Jeanette. She ended up killing Jeanette when she showed up at Helen's door after being released from prison. She went to Morrocco with the plan of stealing Florence's identity. Helen drugged Florence the night of the accident and was trying to kill Florence to assume her identity.
Helen also killed Nick and was trying to kill Florence. Florence threw her off the balcony and then smothered her, killing her. She told the police it was self-defense and she told them everything. Florence then also killed Greta and completely assumed the role of Maud Dixon.
