This one was a heartbreaker. Ultimately there was nobody at fault for Nick's death except for Nick. It wasn't his friend, Connor. It wasn't the abusive neighbor. It wasn't Clara's mother getting behind the will when she wasn't supposed to be driving. It wasn't her mother's caregiver, although she was stealing from Clara's parents. One of the houses in the neighborhood had security cameras that proved that it was truly just Nick driving too fast. It was truly heartbreaking for Clara, and the reader, to realize that there wasn't anybody that caused his death.
