Crawford, the cop, was really Jeremy Cunningham, the believed-dead Cunningham brother. Jeremy had been kidnapped trying to force Audrey to hand over evidence that she did not have. Jeremy grew up knowing that he was adopted, when he found out that his brother, Michael, was in prison for murder, he thought his bio family was just like him. Murderous.
Jeremy killed "Green Boots" and Michael and Lucy.
Ern left Jeremy to die.
