I sooooooo didn't see this one coming!

It was all a dream.  The night her mother died, the doctors gave Jessie a sedative to help her sleep.  To help her rest.  In the dream, Jessie woke up and missed her mother's death.   In reality, she wakes up and gets to spend the final hours with her.  

The author leads the reader down the possible path of child abduction, but Eden's marriage had crumbled and she ended up having a one night stand where she ended up pregnant.   Her ex-husband was there with Jessie when her mother did really die.  He wasn't her father, but he wanted to be her friend.
