Kit's Secret - She had a sexual encounter with the (adult) man that she dog-sat for in exchange for a pair of running shoes. 

Diane's Secret - She killed her father. 

When Diane appears in the lab all those years later, Kit gets drunk and sleeps with her colleague.  In the throws of passion she tells him about Diane.   A few days later she goes to the lab to convince him to keep the secret and a beaker explodes cutting his artery - he bleeds out.   Diane comes in and believes that Kit killed him and "helps" her clean it up.  And refuses to let her call the police.  Kit follows her lead, but lives in fear of being found out. 

Diane also kills Segei.  And frames him for the murder of the colleague. 

But their mentor figures it out. And calls the police. 

The epilogue is ten years in the future and it is revealed that the man who was part of Kit's initial secret was the boyfriend of Diane's mom.  Diane had figured that out from Kit's secret and tried to get her narcissistic mother to see the truth.  Instead she banished Diane and started the chain of events that ruined her life.
